The processor has intel turbo boost technology to crank the frequency at up to 3. The idle temps are at about 38c.
Bought mainly for gaming so as mentioned, more options are available now for productivity. Fantastic for gaming and web browsing. This thing is a beast! Super fast shipping too.
Cons
Bought i7 8700k recieved i3 4170. This cpu is very slow compared to amd. Lots of blue screen, and lagging is video play back. My computer just keeps shutting down.

I have experience with the ryzen 7 3700x in another system that i have but by far i would rather team blue

Idle and gaming temps are super good with a noctua nh d15 and proper airflow
Bought this for a mid range pc build with a z390 mobo
It runs hot i have a 120 evga 2fan liquid cooler and it barely keeps up with it
I replaced it with a thicker denser noctua paste instead

The heat sink and fan was defective in my box i had an arrangement with amazon got a partial refund and bought another intel fan from amazon

The heatsink and fan are obviously not meant for performance but the processor will throttle at 100 degrees celsius to protect itself the security works well and the computer wont shut down after 10 minutes of encoding a dvd with handbrake at 97 celsius temperature

The heat sink comes with factory installed thermal paste but i replaced it i find it too liquid and it will run too close to the edges of the processor
