Pros

Many of the new internet routers support some type of vpn, and the iphone has client side vpn support.

It's simple and effective with our insteon system. Quick shipment. Great to deal with.

Anyone purchasing a programmable smart anything should realize that it will take quite a bit more of your patience to set things up. The sequencing takes time, but by todays standards it's less intuitive. Love the programming feature.

Cons

Insteon seems to have no interest in competing. The only two * that are intuitive are the temp up and down 'arrows' it is not intuitive to program. At some angles it is difficult to read and generally feels cheap.

Not compatible with older furnaces.

You might a couple dollars more for the smarthome products at times but its well worth it if theres a problem

It works as a way to get temperature on your insteon network

Just spoke with smarthome customer service and they are saying it could be as much as 2 more weeks before i see my refund

I purchased 8 and had to swap out three due to bad connecters inside humidity off by 15 and completely dead unit
