Clearly it is defective. Disappointed with the purchase, particularly after reading so many other raving reviews. This is definitely a production defect and looks the quality assurance was missing in the factory!
Badger customer service is the worst part of the company. Bottom leaking usually only happens when internal seals wear out. Save yourself a lot of headaches and buy another brand like waste king that is more horsepower, much quieter, cheaper, requires... Read More

Comes with the cord attached so that saves tons of time
Turns out not that loud and i tested it with banana peels apple cores and orange peels chewed right through them in seconds
I sold plumbing before and told everyone how loud the badger is and it couldn’t grind up water
