Contrary to what others have noted the sound is quite variable from very loud to soft there are three settings for each tune and something like a dozen plus tunes which again vary in volume and adjust on three levels so really any sound level can be set desired

The only drawback is that the batteries can easily jar loose with the batter cover still on causing the unit to not ring when you need it to
