I worked for the phone company for 20 years and I have heard really loud ringers. I'd stuff newspaper in the bells to tone it down a bit. This is not one of those. My buddy with sensitive ears left the room when we first tried it - not necessary. The add said 90 db (man shouting or lawnmower) - this bell is a tad louder than any normal plug in phone. The 2 bells are mounted with screws just off center so you can adjust the bells by turning them closer or farther from the clacker. Tried that, still doesn't make it anywhere closer to what I think loud would be.  Read Less
