Pros & Cons
Pros
Taurine supplement to sprinkle on grain-free dog food. I also feed her half raw diet and a mix of dry kibble which is minimally processed and is whole animal.
It is a very fine powder so it absorbs easily. The shaker is very convenient and the price was better then all others i had seen.
Cons
It is possibly unsafe to use methionine by mouth or intravenously to self-medicate. The bottle is just like a spice container with one side a shaker with holes, the other half opens without the holes.

You are probably here looking at this product because youve read about the controversy brewing with grain free dog food and cardiomyopathy

This is an issue because these sneaky dog food companies boost their protein levels by adding like 6 different kinds of beans and peas to boost the protein content
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
See if they used one type of bean or even two types they would end up being the first two ingredients

People have been well trained to look for dog food with at least the first ingredient being an animal protein but sneaky dog food companies even ones considered to be excellent holistic companies get around this by dilution

That wouldnt necessarily be bad except that beans dont contain taurine or much of the taurine precursors that dogs need to manufacture taurine themselves
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
Now some dog food companies are waking up and adding taurine and a few other amino acids directly to the food which is better than nothing

If this product is too expensive rather than doing nothing i would get a big bulk package of taurine here on amazon which is very cheap
