In the end i didnt even have to use the supplied inlet valve the longest part that screws into the bottom of the toilet cistern and just replaced the top part which screwed into the existing inlet valve

I struggled to install it but i have limited plumbing experience and found that i needed to replace a washer at the same time to get it to fit correctly
