Pros

The snes controller is closer to the original but is more rounded. If you want to buy this product for playing snes on a crt, it is well worth it. This is the only one that can connect two nes and two snes controllers.

A two year life span is pretty incredible. My parents' retron is much harder on their machine-- it is very dusty and full of cat hair, but it still works.

Cons

There is no nes eject button which is ridiculous, and sometimes the snes eject won't work either. The snes to nes button is very fragile. The unit is defective and will have to be returned.

The console has a very hard grip on all cartridges, it takes a lot of physical effort to pull them out. The internal packaging was slightly damaged when i opened it. Nes games get stuck and pull out the data reading strips.

The controllers works ok, but i find the dpad to be cheap and not read inputs all that well. Other flaw is for some dumb reason the controller ports are on the side of the console.

For the price you get a very capable console

I really wanted to get him one and this was the best price i found

What i really like about this system over some of its competitors are the dual nes and snes ports

The retron 3 does reproduce sega genesis pretty well
