Pros & Cons
Pros
Tent is solidly built and stayed dry as a bone in moderate rain. No leaks even under heavy rain. Temps free anger from 80 to 43 with sun, wind, and light rain. Only drawback is the rainfly flap falling back to you after opening. It's been through down... Read More
When deflated it folds into in a thin water bottled shaped pouch that slid into easily into my pack. Takes up very little space when in it's pouch.
The yosemite 1 for motorcycle camping and hiking the grt. As being muscular it still seems alittle small however to have the tent and be able to keep my gear inside the tent was great. For long hikes, the weight is 5.
This tent fits the bill. Highly recommend it. Really happy with this purchase.
Cons
Too heavy and bulky for backpacking. It is not “ultralight” and definitely heavier then what you want for a 1 person backpacking tent. One corning of the tub has some obvious wear that seems will rip at any time.
Highlights
Quality
The quality is good and the weight is decent
Little heavy for backpacking but other than that quality is good and setup easy
Will be using tent for first hikecamp next weekend and will rewrite review if quality is not as expected
Even with the ground cloth water soaked through both and collected under my sleeping pad a bit of a concern with a down sleeping bag
Price
I cant find a low price tent with both mesh walls ultralight
Great little tip for a great price
Packaging/appearance
One of the nights it got close to freezing it kept out the cold and retained my body heat because of the full covering of the rainfly
There is a bit of mud trapped underneath the cleartaped seam on the underside of the rainfly
And the zipper cover sticks in the zipper pretty typical
The only drawback i could see is the rainfly flap falling back to you after opening and trying to get out of the way
Competitiveness
I am doing so because of hyke and bykes fantastic customer service
That are sometimes absent from much more expensive manufacturers
It has a holdback loop but difficult to manage from inside
Using a lot of hyke byke equipmet i could build a really great backpacking setup that weighs 23 lbs more but costs 1500 less
