Pros & Cons
Pros
These mats fit inside the seed trays and under the trays with coir seed starters. They simply raise the temp to where you can germinate seeds. The warmth improves my early spring sprout growth.
The beefy connector points mean they will hold up for many years without breaking down. But when you start researching all the products out there, it gets confusing. As far as longevity i don't know yet as i've been only using them for a year.
This is my first seedling mat experience. I chose to pay basically double the cost for this vs competing non ul (ul is a safety certification in the us) item rather than mess around with competing decently rated products. A layer of insulation under t... Read More
Cons
I'm really bummed about this product. Should have listened to the warnings from other reviewers here.
The temperature in my house is 65 degrees. The thermostat it's plugged into says 62 degrees after 4 hours. It no longer heats.
Hydrofarm removed it from the package in order to ship more conveniently. After 3 weeks no change at all. I'm not sure to blame hydrofarm or the seller at this point. It's really frustrating that i got 2 in a row that were defective.
Highlights
Quality
Great product quality and ease of use but thermostat must be purchased separately if you need one
Despite the extra watering labor i had to endure i was very happy with the results
It is not a hot mat with just about a 20 degree temperature difference with the ambient air but that is all i wanted
Shipping
It ships in a box that keeps it flat unlike many other brands that roll up the mat for ease in shipping
Packaging/appearance
The components are bent from the first packaging
Just make sure you get amazon boxing because it will be sent in its actually packaging if you dont
Competitiveness
Its held to the jar with zipties linked together
Got these after trying another brand vivosun which was returned
I tried inkbird and ac infinitis 20x20 mats
I decided to try to save some money by going with cheaper brands
