Pros

The reticulated foam is great for my tank and much more durable than the regular hydro-sponge 4. I only wish theyre was one slightly smaller for nano tanks. I have this in my 100gl tank that also has a canister filter.

The 1 inch lift tube and ati's high flow sponge support really make a difference. Porosity is just right and the longer lift tube increases filtration functionality.

Easy to clean and seems to provide way more biological filtering than the competitors. Takes a couple of rinses to get the filter completely clean due to the fine particulate.

Cons

The filter came damaged though, with a crack in the bottom on the base and covered in scratches and dings. Most don't need a fry safe size, if you do it's something you use only as long as needed. For the size, there really isn't that much sponge for ... Read More

This sponge is brand new and looks worse than my old sponge. If your looking for the pro series sponge filter look elsewhere. This is not a good photo quality.

Please note that the filters performance is greatly influenced by the quality of your air pump

Decent quality but if you have a 20gal of smaller don’t buy it’s gonna be to big for that

Takes a little while to fully submerge

Also it doesnt seem to pick up particles that are close to the gravel but water borne debris get sucked to the sponge

I bought this to assist my aquaclear 70 which i really like

Gonna need an airstone inside to break it up
