The twist top is a little hard to open and you do have to hold the main cap otherwise it will start to unscrew and leak but other than that it is leak proof

The lid has a silicone anti spill flapvalve similar to some condiment lids so you have to squeeze or suck to get water passed it

Heres what did happen the cooler smelled like booze so we checked the cap and for bladder punctures nope that wasnt it
