The hydro heater holds the temp of my tank between 77 and 79 deg f even daynight cycle even though the measured setting is 74 deg f

The only problem i have with this heater is that the it turns off before the ideal temperature is reached way too often it would turns itself on for 30 secs and then turns off

However i dont see a direct correlation between the temperature on the dial and the actual temperature in the tank

That being said i had a huge struggle with algae and it got all over the heater despite my best efforts to clean it off so im sure that compromised the functionality a bit
