Pros & Cons
Pros
Humble pi is a ramble through a series of stories of weird happenings, mishaps and disasters relating mainly to computing. The maths referenced in the book isn't overly complicated.
Really enjoyed this book, interesting and entertaining. Each chapter is about a different type of mistake. But on the contrary, book explains very thoroughly.
Matt parker is both a mathematician and a comedian. Humble pi shows how maths underpins so much of our modern world. Parker writes with flair and real wit, with the odd laugh-out-loud one-liner, too.
Cons
The “story telling” is really shallow and often each anecdotal “mistake’ comes to an abrupt end. Why is 3 halfway between 1 and 10?

A lot of esoteric and interesting trivia mixed with the background reasons why these things occurred

So its not really maths failures per se in most cases but applied maths used loosely where the applier is just as culpable often more as the mathematical solution they are trying to apply

I think this would be a difficult read for most people for example i wouldnt recommend it to those members of our book group without higher level maths knowledge as much of it would be incomprehensible
