One confusing bit in the description is that it has a usb port that port is only used to supply electricity to the device communication with the device is via wifi

Its essentially a hub or router that instead of being connected to the internet by a cable is connected to the internet via a telephone data service

We set it up using windows 8 so it definitely works with that system though of course once its set up it will work with any system capable of wifi communications

I looked at several different models and decided to get this one based on the description which states that it can be charged via usb

The set up could not have been easier as i went through the menus to customize the apn settings for my carrier and then the wifi security settings
