But the only problem was about a third of the container the tabs were all broken into small pieces and very hard to use.

If you can just barely smell the chlorine, then it is possibly ok for animals.

It kept my small 8ftx30in pool clear for a while, but i had to break it up to fit in the floater because i couldn't find the 1in ones anywhere.
