It teaches you lil techniques that might sound silly, but when you apply them and understand the method behind the madness it actually saves you problems memorizing. Cal newport is not big in mnemonics for some reason, but he writes very good books.
Cons
I find this method really miningless for exams purposes. This book is useless!

I had previously read o’brien’s “how to develop a brilliant memory” which is somewhat of a workbook compared to this one

When reading you get the feeling that the author took his time this book feels like a labor of love whereas “how to develop a brilliant memory” was made more for people who are impatient and want to speed through things
