Pros & Cons
Pros
Good insight into classical philosophy without too much simplification while avoiding entanglements in obtuse issues. Do yourself the courtesy of reading this insightful and engaging book. My sincere thanks and gratitude to the author for writing it.

How to be a stoic is a great introduction to the philosophy and practice of stoicism. Stoicism is not the stodgy, stiff upper lip, coldly rational spock-like demeanor that many today believe.
Cons
Appears to be limited introduction to stoicism (mainly referencing epictetus) and partially pointless reminiscence of travel plans.
The author also inserts his political opinions (which seem to be leftist and anti-capitalist) at several points. Not well written imho.
It is folly to pretend that animals only do bad, angry, thoughtless things. Animals are altruistic. We are the only species that commits genocide.

This introduction covers all the bases in a balanced and thorough manner but also while remaining easiertoread than some more academic or scholarlyoriented stoic introductory texts
