Pros & Cons
Pros
The blue curtain is flimsy and cheap but overall 100% worth the money. Love the adjustable speed and flashing lights. Kitten and her 2 year old mom are completely enthralled by this toy.
Putting it together was a snap. The only problem is, with continued play, the wand starts to unscrew and becomes loosened and comes off. The newer version has a screw in appendage so isn't as likely to come off.
Cons
If your cat stops the toy's tail with even the lightest pressure it makes a continuous, loud clacking sound that will drive you nuttier than it's advertised to drive your cats. It sounds like the gears are grinding inside.
The new smarty cat toy is flimsy and poorly made. It's almost as if the designers went out of their way to ruin what was once a great product. The base and motor seem far more durable.
After a day and a half the batteries wind down and the speeds are molasses slow. This new version also pauses quite frequently with blinking lights.

My cat is very strong and so instead of batting the feather and keeping engaged that way he prefers to just pin it to the ground completely and chew on the feather while the motor keeps running

He even has just picked it up by the wire and dragged it places not minding that the device is trying to rotate
