I havent had any issues with oil spilling out but based on the material i could see that as an issue

You have to constantly reposition the pan in order to minimize spills

That being said the opening is almost too small and you will never get all the oil out after the change

Having the big top hole helps keep clean up to a minimum but as most people are saying the drain spout can leak a bit
