Though the thin black fuzzy paper in the pull out drawers is cheap you can just throw it out if u dont like it

The top portion detaches and can be used standalone or on the top of the drawers

The edges of the top portion fit into a recess on the drawer top to keep it in place if you want to use it on top of the drawers
