I think the get stuck in the fabric and then you have to brush pretty hard to clean them off

I poured water on it to test it out and let it sit for about 10 seconds

Not enough liquid went through to wet the table but you could see on the underside of the cloth where the water had been

I think if you had a varnished table it would be fine
