Pros
Get 'em. Works perfectly for my needs and very accurate.
Gadget has a long enough stem to place in the water and still rest the meter safely up on the side of the heater. Hits the temp in about 5 seconds.
Works really well and registers the temperature very quickly. One advantage over those labled for compost is the shorter probe.
Cons
This thermometer is impossible to calibrate. Since the temp cannot be controlled i have to turn it off when it reaches 120*. If it is off by 22 degrees at boiling what is it off if you need 170?
Broken right out of the package. Could spin the arrow around just holding it with a slight jostle. Just another something to add to the landfill.

It clipped easily on the edge of my brew pot and angles the tip towards the middle

The only thing i noticed is that the little metal stopper is cheap so after a few uses i couldnt place it on the pot like i normally would
