The size is pretty big (not tight) but it has elastic you can cinch up for a snugger fit. The flap seems to be what they advertise at 50+ spf protection.
An oversized hawaiian shirt from the 90's is optional but recommended. Wear slightly off color cargo shorts, tall socks, and high top shoes. The hat is lightweight and comfortable.

The wide brim alone offers good sun protection but if the sun is beating down unroll the neck protector and give yourself some more shade

After wearing it during a sunny two hour highway cleanup on a sidewalk beside a major thoroughfare my unsunscreened face was just minorly and slightly red which i believe was from uv reflection from sidewalk surfaces and not a hat flaw
