I spent way too much time researching dehumidifiers and trying to find the best one. Overall manufacturers don't seem to warrant their devices for very long now, but after reading the reviews, we settled on this one. It's been in near-constant daily operation since we received it about four months ago.It is a powerful device. We noticed our power usage go up by about an average of 150 kWh per month, which in our area translates to an extra ~$15/month. Sitting in the basement of our 2,300sqft. home, it sucks down water at a surprising rate. After it took a few days to process the air in our home, I can turn it on in the morning and it will run for about an hour or two until it starts to reach an equilibrium of 45% RH and cycle on and off (this is a part of my design complaints which I'll get to). The bucket is massive, and with our current usage I only need to empty it about every three or four days.My first complaint is how they designed it for airflow. Air is sucked in through the back of the unit (opposite of where you pull the bucket out from), and pushed out through a vent in the side. If you want to put the unit against a wall, that means you'll need to place it backwards against the wall for optimal air flow, leaving the controls and display upside-down. This isn't a huge deal, but just means that I need to pull the unit out whenever I need to change the bucket. On that subject, you can't change any controls (or even turn it off) once it detects a full bucket and displays an error code. You need to empty the bucket, replace the empty bucket, and let it detect said empty bucket before you can turn it off. Again, just a small oddity but not a huge deal.The last complaint is probably the largest one, relatively speaking. Wherever the sensor is placed to detect humidity, it seems to accumulate humidity much more quickly than the rest of the air in the room. A monitor placed in a room nearby doesn't really shift more than three or five percentage points in a day, while the sensor inside the unit can reach up to 60% when the unit has been sitting off for a night. This hyper-sensitivity also seem to cause the device to cycle on and off frequently. I've found that 40% RH is difficult to go below for this machine, so I set it at 45% as a compromise. It will run until it reaches 40%, cycle off (which means that it turns off the condenser/compressor and runs the fan for a minute), and apparently it waits until the sensor reads about 50% before it turns back on. The time between the fan going off and RH reaching back up 50% only seems to take about a minute or two, so it seems like the sensor is placed on the unit in such a way that it's measuring much more humid air than what is actually in the room. This may contribute to more power draw and decreased efficiency which isn't great.Despite my complaints, this still seems like a great dehumidifier. We haven't had any leaks, everything still seems to function as designed, and the components still appear to be in good shape. As is the case for dehumidifiers these days, and virtually any other appliance, time will tell just how long it lasts.  Read Less
