They clean easily i used a steam cleaner and didnt hold it too close to the fabric

I pictured more of a charcoaldark gray and they are lighter than a charcoal color they are more of a standard gray crayola crayon like gray

I would say it blocks out about 95 of the light so its not totally black out so thats why i took off a star
