Pros

The video is very sharp, sharp enough to read license plates. Even with the included ir illuminator the camera works great in the dark. The quality is a big upgrade from the 2 logitech alert outdoor cameras i have.

I wish the camera was a little more wide angled, but this is the 4mm and is the characteristic of this camera. The only thing about these cameras i don't care for is the mounting bracket. I like the fact that hikvision cameras come with a paper templa... Read More

This is the usa version, so no firmware hacking needed. Updating to truly english firmware bricks the camera. In the case of a mismatch, you get a virtual brick.

Be sure to forward ports for http, rtsp, and webserver for full access. The default password for admin is 12345. Re-configure for an address on my 192. Check the box for ntp time sync with the default server.

Cons

The company requires that you send them a special document file, after which (at some point) they will e-mail a separate file granting you permission to change your own password.

The documentation however, is horrible; unbelievably bad; pure *; total joke. There are 6 categories for you to slog through and it's a real chore finding the correct manual. Sticker misleading as to fw version, claims it is 5.
