The clip does compete well with players several times its very modest cost its clearly better in my mind than the run of the mill commercial players out there ipods other similar junk your cell phone etc but it cant touch the hifiman 700 not even close

I found it was really nice but immediately found the one drawback a cause this machine for more than a few minutes it automatically reverts to the starting point of the file and not where i left off

Its also extremely dark to use in direct bright sunlight and actually make use of the display of figure settings or otherwise

The hm601 fully satisfies me however it is very musical and has a certain coloration to its sound that is very very lush and analogue sounding reminiscent of a vinyl record or the cleanest sounding cassette tape you never heard
