But it says just to put it on for a few minutes and it is really strong so i would be scared to leave it any longer in case it ruined the chrome on the taps

We live in an exceptionally hard water area in the midlands glass and chrome gets covered in a white film

If a smaller amount is used regularly maybe every two to three months then significant harder to remove buildup will be prevented
