But it is thick and it seems it should be able to prevent water dampen the mattress if it is not a large amount of water

Holds water very while as when we washed it it held the water and was very wet even after a long spin cycle before putting into the dryer

So far it works good i purposely threw some water to check if it goes to the mattress but it doesnt
