Read that you had to slight tap it to turn on but maybe it will help to pull out the tags that come in the back of the batteries to activate them

To us it looks like the accuracy of this is about plus or minus one pound if you stand on it and it reads 150 and then stand on it five minutes later it might read 149

The only thing that bugs me is you must calibrate the scale by pressing the bottom corner every time you want to weigh yourself
