The main reason for the big size of all three headphones mentioned above was none of them exploited the fact that most headphones have rotating ear cups and can be stored such that the ear cups lie flat

The thickness is reduced by storing the headphones with ear cups lying flat on their cushions as shown in images

Theres a picture of the case with some water jug on it and i would not trust it to hold up a water jug with anything i cared about in it

The middle is much less rigid then the edges
