Actually i was able to use it as some sort of docking station for my laptop and desktop with hdmi outputs to a older display with a single dvi input use a hdmidvi cable not included

It works like a charm just dont forget that inactive source is physically disconnected from the output

For laptop it means that it stops to extendduplicate screen to the display in the inactive mode

The xbox supplies power to the hdmi switcher so it has to be on and not in sleep mode to watch tv

The cable tv dvr apparently doesnt supply power to the hdmi switcher
