They are not has dark as the picture i ordered pewter mine are a pale grey which goes better in my lounge luckily

As far as black outs not sure about that i have blinds as well so it does not matter so much to me xhopefully you can see from my photo

An unexpected bonus is that the advertised blackout also works well often this is disappointing ineffective on premade curtains

On the downside the material creases along folds once its packaged and the creases persisted even after the curtains had been hanging for a few days

These looked beautiful but unfortunately i returned because they were not the colour i was expecting
