I suggest getting a large craft work syringe with an applicator needle that has an inner diameter opening of at least 2mm

Although this stuff facilitates thermal transfer its nowhere near as efficient as the heat sink you want that heat getting to the heat sink asap

In reality and in the home my guess is the more expensive stuff has more copper or aluminum in the paste and probably goes on thicker
