Pros

A young girl is murdered during a hallowe'en party. A * of a child in a small town outside of london puts perot on the scent. The strange death of a young teenage girl, while attending a private halloween party, for middle schoolers, leads our hero on... Read More

"this book is classic christie! It's a good story, though as reviewers have stated over the years perhaps not one of christie’s strongest" i can’t quite see what attracted branagh to this story which, though solid, doesn't seem to rise to the standard... Read More

From the novel's synopsis and the movie's trailer, it is evident that this book is different from the film. Less footwork, more assistants, and more of the little grey cells. Storyline moves along well.

Cons

It feels like 50% of this book is spent listening to every single character lament the state of our wild youth. If you are already a christie fan you probably have read this already and it is too late for a warning.

The first half of the book is an irritating slog. The suspense builds up some towards the end but loses steam with excessive poetic language and a disappointing denouement. Avoid this paperback unless you want to wind up with eye strain.

Bizarre line breaks. Hyphenated words in the middle of lines. Misspelled words and more. Makes me wonder if it is somehow counterfeit. On & on &s; on.
