Pros & Cons
Pros
The wood has a beautiful rich glow. It darkens the wood and brings out beautiful wood tones. Red oak floors have a matt finish and are water repellent and scratch resistant.
Easy to apply and cleanup. The thickness is perfect. It smells great.
It smells great and feels great underfoot. There is a citrus smell when first applied but it fades. The scent is both pleasant and safe.
Waterproof for sure. Once fully cured it's totally waterproof. The only downside we found is that you can not use the surface for at least a week.
This stuff is pleasure to use. Feels good. Pleasantly surprised. The family disagrees however.
Cons
Tung oil is more like 80/20 solvent to ting oil. After 3 weeks the floor is still tacky. The haze and the streaks are the result of a film of too much oil.
The citrus solvent smell is over powering and will not go away! Warning for ventilation and combustible. The smell is terrible and has now made it's way through my entire house. The fume is very strong and unpleasant.
