Ring sits right on the rim of the outlet, making the install very stable. Have just installed so not sure of effectiveness yet.

The quality is very sturdy and i'm hoping this reduces the frequency of getting up on the ladder aswater is cascading over gutter when strainer clogs. Keeps debris out of downspouts.

Cons

The top of the guard ball sits about 1/2 inch below gutter floor. Not recommended at all. Too small for my gutter downspouts.
