Pros & Cons
Pros
Just got it last week and tuned it with electronic clip on tuner. Seems to stay tuned well also since i fiddled around with the head and strings. Gotoh makes exact matching tuning machines for this style but with an enclosed gear for each machine inst... Read More
Great service with amazon/austin bazaar. Cannot recommend the jim dandy enough. I have to echo what many others have said--this is a great little guitar.
For a mid sized guitar it truly sings when i play it. It has a beautiful ringing tone and is super easy to play. This is a players guitar and it’s made to be a beater, just as the stellas and harmonys and kay's of old.
Really the perfect guitar for a beginner or someone looking for a smaller sized model. Smaller scale is easy to get used to but i have medium sized mitts.
I'm a total beginner and this is perfect for me. Makes playing fun again. I'm not a good player, but this is at least as enjoyable and beautiful to play as the more expensive guitars i've played.
Cons
It sounds deep and i could still smell the smell of newly cut wood. The problem is, it just sounds like a cheap guitar. I sounds like dull plastic, which is probably due to the thick plastic coating on the guitar.
The intonation is a joke. That is unacceptable. The guitar is not in tune up the neck. Therefore, the guitar cannot be tuned.
Highlights
Quality
I wasnt expecting too much for the cost but i am pretty impressed at the quality and sound the guitar has
I have been leaning guitar over the last three months and have been pleased with the sound and quality
For under 200 im not surprised by possible inconsistent quality control etc
Ill update this review over time if i have any issues with the guitar namely the bridge coming loose nut issues tuning head issues etc
Price
This one has a really clean crisp sound and is totally worth the price
Sound is amazing considering the size and price
You could certainly do worse for this price
Shipping
It didnt come double boxed but it was well packed so there were no shipping issues
Packaging/appearance
Really liked it right out of the box
After tuning it was playable straight out of the box
Thought this was a fluke then saw the the checklist
Competitiveness
The sound is more balanced than my epiphone dr100 and less boomy
