Since there's zero charge in the car's battery, everything stops. Likely cut-rate cells inside, totally lax quality control, or both. It was hooked up properly and just malfunctioned.

Upon receipt, charged for a week. Charged for over two days. Lasted about a year and half. Not sure it should be rated for up to 4.
