Of course i mucks up one of the cables and this saved me the time of using the cable and then troubleshooting. It is very handy when making patch cables, or checking cat cable runs.
It's much better than having to plug the ethernet cable into a live data circuit and see whether it works. This helps you figured out beforehand if you need to redo the connections.
It successively illuminates the 8 leds one at a time. It comes with two short patch wires, ran one patch wire from the network jack in the living room to the small remote piece.
The device comes with a transmitter/receiver (one unit), a smaller receiver. Rather than spring tensioned contact plates.
