Pros
I previously used black diamond blasting sand. Imo it's worth it for this really unique substrate. There is a broad range of particle sizes, all the way from fine dust to a few chunks up to ~8mm across.

The sand is gray and the best way to rinse is to use a fine mesh fish net and scoop 10oz at a time in and run water through it till it runs clear

There arent any sharp edges on this substrate it is very smooth

Your tank will still be cloudy so make sure to have clarifier ready
