With effort i can get a summerweight down bag or a backpackers quilt into the 9l and an old fairly bulky 20 degree down bag into an 11l

You probably could get away with a size s but then it would press out into the space for the outer pockets

If you pack the poles and stakes separately you can compress the tent portion very small

Keep in mind that my only point of comparison is a kelty compression sack but the granite gear blows it out of the water
