Pros & Cons

Pros

The shortbread is wonderful, the lemon cake is very tasty, and i'm hoping to make the tartlets tomorrow. It reminds me of my english great-grandmother & her recipes. Great recipes but definitely not for a novice cook.

A nice stocking stuffer to give at christmas. A treasure for the cookbook collector. The insight into pre-wwi home life is priceless.

Love it. No frills here. You will not be disappointed. Overall a good find.

Also buy the second book published in 1927. A little different than pictured. Great to have a photo of the original and a typed version.

Cons

Basically handwritten recipes that were scanned and then typed. Not secret recipes at all. Just giving a list of ingredients doesn't do it.

This is one of those purchases you wouldn't give to an enemy and you'd feel embarrassed to donate. The actual item is not. If felt really cheaply designed. No part of its design is thoughtful.
