The snap at the top holds it in place while zipping. We live in the midwest and this arrived just in time for our first subzero plunge.

This jacket is perfect for my 18 lbs boston terrier who gets easily cold. It's so well-made and warm, but our little dog has a curly pig tail that gets caught under the back of it and depresses him. Love this jacket for my two rescue, furry babies.

Cons

Xl that wouldn't fit a cocker spaniel. The leash rings are a completely different color and do not have the name engraved on them.

The sizing is hard to approximate and inaccurate. The shape is cylinder all around. The purple is very difficult to close the zipper as there is no gap.
