As advertised it turns on when the temperature drops and turns off when it rises too high

I took it out of the box followed the directions and into the tack it went

We had originally purchased higher end hydor heaters for our small tanks thinking quality in the price they all died around the same time one actually shattered in the tank while 2 were cracked and filled with water

The only thing i would warn about is that if the ambient room temp is very warm we had a heat wave come through the heater seemed to get confused and would flicker on and off even though it was at the high end of the range it was supposed to be at

So if the water it already quite warm i wouldnt assume that the heater would just stay off until its needed

Suction cups fall off every now and then but that’s ok
