Pros

Love the gideon character, love the intricate detail, and love the breakneck pacing. Pendergast fan through and through but gradually learning to love gideon. I have a feeling that gideon's diagnosis is going to be postponed from book to book.

Cons

The plot of this one is obtusely byzantine. It seems like a bunch of familiar trope thrown together. Preston/childs seem unconcerned that little makes sense.

Gideon's partner fordyce is as much as walking cliche as the love interest. There is a premise regarding gideon's health that prevents this reader from bonding with the protagonist.

Fordyce and alida serve practically no purpose whatsoever.
