Also my particular 12v socket is always hot regardless of the key position so it wouldnt really work for a dash cam anyway since you only want it recording when youre driving

You can see the dash cam in the attached image just under the rear view mirror and can imagine how crappy it would look with a wire going down to the cigarette lighter

I plan to test the converter for approximately one year in this environment and will follow up with additional reviews if i find that this product is not stable or fails
