This gps receiver is a must-have for anyone looking to geotag their dslr photos.

But it does impact the camera battery's life to some extent.

My only word of caution: make sure your camera strap is situated in a way that it's not putting pressure on the connector.

Battery: if your camera is constantly on it will drain the battery over a full day to 80% on my nikon d7000, but whenever you switch it off in between it will go into a standby mode after minute that needs little current.

Had it connected to the camera over night with camera off and could not recognize battery drain.

The nixon brand gps has received bad reviews because people say it takes forever to lock onto satellites and identify your location.

It's also pretty expensive considering its flaws.

Usually it was locked onto the satellites by the time i was ready to shoot, but i did have one photo of of hundreds that didn't have gps info because the gps wasn't locked on yet.
