Pros & Cons
Pros
This is such a simple device that its main value is durability. This one feels just as sturdy as the one that made 50 years ago. Seems to be well made and sturdy.
This awl is suitable for use by hand or with a small hammer for puncturing leather. Best one for small plastic anchors in drywall.
Cons
The tip of this awl is not as pictured. Insanely thick. The width of the tip is probably an 1/8th of an inch wide and flat.
Highlights
Quality
Very nice quality feels good in the hand
I was very pleased with quality of this tool
I purchased this awl to make holes for crocheting flipflop shoes
The steel cap would withstand some light tapping with a hammer or maul without putting undue stress on the wooden handle
Price
Great price for original all purpose awl
I card wool and buying a batt pick for removing carded fiber from a big round drum with spikes on it can be expensive
I mean its a stratch awl like you cant make a bad scratch awl but good for the price
Competitiveness
I prefer this awl to the stanley brand because the shaft runs the length of the wooden handle and is capped by a steel disc
The price was better that most of the options i saw in store so i got this to just try out
I dont feel that ill need a more expensive replacement any time soon
